The European Commission is organising a photo competition for 14 to 18 year olds from the 27 Member States, under the theme “The euro: what does it mean for us?” It is an opportunity to have a say and gain a better understanding of the euro through a photo competition. Each team is made up of 2 to 3 young people and 1 adult. The team will send its photo to a European jury which will select 27 finalist teams, one from each Member State. The winning team will be announced during a prize-giving ceremony in Brussels in May 2010, attended by the 7 highest scoring teams from across Europe. For details visit www.euroinphoto.eu.

eTwinning is proud to announce that this year’s National eTwinning Conference will take place during the end of May. This year the conference will be held in collaboration with EMBED 2010 during a whole week where there will be an exhibition of all the eTwinning projects and other ICT related projects created by teachers and students from all over Malta and Gozo.

A group of German teachers are seeking partners for their project Little Twinny’s Adventure. Anyone interested is to contact the Malta National Support Service on etwinning@schoolnet.gov.mt for further information.

A magical train leaves Romania to reach Malta, with magical dolls on board dressed in national costumes who then describe the flags, food, traditions of their country. The train’s destination is St. Thomas More College, Marsascala Primary School. The project has been teaching kindergarten pupils various subjects indirectly, like colours and shapes through flags, customs and manners through food and traditions. Music was also included through singing traditional songs in both our native tongue and English. The project has also helped to practice some pre-writing skills.eTwinning Malta is proud to announce that one of the winners of the eTwinning Prizes 2010 is a Maltese Kindergarten Assistant from St. Thomas More College, Fgura Primary A. Ms. Marianne Schembri has won the prestigious eTwinning Annual European Award in the 4-11 years category with the project, “Colours of Life”. The project partner is Ms. Ewa Kurzak from Poland. The news was announced during the annual eTwinning Conference which this year took place in Seville, Spain, from the 5th-7th of February 2010.

eTwinning will soon restart its online learning events. Applications will be open about 10 days before each event is due to start. You will find a link on your eTwinning Desktop. You will be asked to fill out an application form and a few days before the event begins, you will receive your special login and password to the Learning Lab Area.

We want to create a project based on childrens drawings. We are starting with our 6 year olds’ drawings inspired from fairytales, different seasons, xmas…. but want to let the project grow with the children. Language is english.
