eTwinning Multilateral Contact Seminar in Brussels

The eTwinning National Support Service of Belgium will be organizing a Multilateral Contact Seminar in Brussels, Belgium. The main aim of this multilateral seminar is for teachers who are new to eTwinning to start off new collaborative projects with partners from around Europe.

Maltese Teachers Place First and Second in the eTwinning Project Snapshot of Europe

Two teachers from Malta who took part in the eTwinning Project Snapshot of Europe, placed first and second respectively thanks to the photos that were taken by the students in their class.  The winners are the Year 4 students of  Ms. Maria Antioinette Magro from St. Gorg Preca College, Hamrun Primary GP and the Year 3 students of of Ms. Catherine Bezzina from St. Ignatius College, Siggiewi Primary C.

eTwinning Projects in Spanish Language

There is a space for teachers who want to find eTwinners to develop a project in Spanish language. If you want to be part of this space, follow these steps:

1. Register to eTwinning at www.etwinning.net.

2. Contact your eTwinning National Support Service on etwinning@schoolnet.gov.mt or on 25982150 to get an invitation to this area called TwinSpace. (Please give exact email account that you used when you registered to eTwinning.)
3. You will also get information about how to make full use of this collaborative tool.

Happy Minds Strong Bodies eTwinning Project wins in Poland

The Polish National Support Service has recently advertised their list of winning projects for this scholastic year. One of these projects is Happy Minds Strong Bodies, by Christine Zukier from the Pre-Integration “Gromadka Uszatek Bear” in Schwerin Lubuskie, Poland, which has Maltese partners in it.  The Maltese partners in this project are Ms. Patricia Bondin and Ms. Janet Mifsud from St. Thomas More College, Marsaskala Primary. In Malta this project was awarded the National Quality label too for its interesting and extensive activities.

The Maltese NSS together with the Maltese partners would like to  congratulate ourselves with the polish partner for winning this award.

Our Neverland – An activity by Marsaskala Kindergarten section

The Kindergarten Section of St. Thomas More College, Marsaskala Primary organized an event called ‘Our Neverland’.

The main idea behind this event was to raise the awareness of the children about the planet where collectively we can change our world into a DREAM PLACE full of LOVE and FAITH just as the lyrics of the song ‘My Neverland’ go.

Craft course for parents

craft-001St Benedict’s College, Girls Secondary Tarxien organised a craft course for parents as part of their life-long education programme. The five-month course was conducted by Ms C Abdilla, a Textiles Studies teacher and Mrs C Abdilla, a Learning Support Assistant.

eTwinning celebration at Hamrun GP Primary

Ms. Maria Magro, Year 4 teacher at San Gorg Preca College, Hamrun GP Primary, invited the eTwinning National Support Service to participate in a small class celebration to close this year’s eTwinning projects. Ms. Magro has participated in various projects during this scholastic year, namely Faces, Schoolovision 2011, Snapshot of Europe 2011, What is the weather like today?, From the nursery of Salzburg to the Royal Theatre of Vienna, and made a certificate for each child in her class as a keepsake.

Meeting the Winning eTwinning Pupils – St. Theresa College, Mriehel Girls’ JL

On Wednesday 1st June 2011, Ms. Jeannette Cardona and Ms. Amanda Debattista from the eTwinning National Support Service visited St. Theresa College, Mriehel Girls’ Junior Lyceum to present tokens to students who participated in the eTwinning project called ‘Let’s make the best out of nature!!’ This project placed second in the eTwinning National Awards.

Biology and art students from Ms. Nathalie Scerri’s and Ms. Romina Briffa’s classes gathered in front of the mural they have created for this short cermony symbolic cermony.  The teachers also presented the students and eTwinning National Support Service members a copy of the desk calendar they created with the photos shot during this project.

This project brought together the subjects of biology and art though a common theme: endemic flowers. The biology students studied the flowers and took photos of them, whilst the art students painted them and ended up with a large mural in the schools foyer.
